Welcome to Musselburgh & Inveresk

Community Council

Connecting our community through events, meetings, and local news

About Us

Musselburgh & Inveresk Community Council (MICC) is the local voice for people living in Musselburgh, Inveresk and Old Craighall.

We’re a voluntary, non-political group, acting as a link between local people and organisations like East Lothian Council, councillors, the police, and community groups.

What we do broadly falls into three areas:

  • Represent the community – raising local issues and making sure people are heard

  • Improve the town – delivering practical projects that make a visible difference

  • Bring people together – organising events and supporting community life.

Meetings

Our meetings are open to everyone. No need to be a regular—just come along, listen in, raise something, or get involved.

When: Every second Tuesday of the month
Time: 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Where: Musselburgh East Community Association, Haddington Road, EH21 8JJ

Find agenda for the next meeting and past minutes on our 'meetings' page.

What We’ve Done

We focus on practical improvements you can actually see and use—things that make Musselburgh feel cared for, welcoming, and worth being proud of.

Some of the work we’ve delivered over the years includes:

  • Town gateway sculptures – giving a proper sense of arrival

  • Restoration of the Old Hayweights and High Church clocks

  • Benches at the Memorial Fountain – making the space more usable

  • Prom improvements – including seating, landscaping and picnic areas

  • Lighting under the Rennie and Roman bridges – simple, but makes a big impact

  • Annual Christmas lights – bringing life into the town centre

What We’re Working On

We’re always looking at what’s needed next and where we can make a difference:

  • Promoting local businesses through an interactive community map

  • Setting up a Blooming Musselburgh group to bring colour and care back into the town

  • Bringing back the Musselburgh Youth Games (with the Musselburgh Loop)

  • Organising the Children’s Gala

  • Developing Community Place Plans to help shape Musselburgh’s future

  • Supporting plans to bring the Old Town Hall back into use

Annual Events

We take pride in running events that bring the whole town together:

  • Musselburgh Children’s Gala – a proper community day for families

  • Poppy Appeal fundraising- (with local cadets)

  • Remembrance Service at the Fountain-

  • Torchlight Parade & Christmas Lights Switch-On – a real highlight of the year
